"A swicked adventure that will leave you smiling and wanting more." -HM Ward, New York Times Bestselling Author
There are no minor gods.
Lilah Jones is officially thirteen. Unfortunately, the day comes with a few twists she didn't expect. For example, her hair turned into a living rainbow and she was gifted with a golden necklace that randomly goes from being room temperature to as hot a supernova. On top of that, she has a dream that she remembers line by the line when she wakes up.
Seeking answers, Lilah meets two boys, named Cole and Adrian, who gladly clear things up. Remember the Greek myths you assumed were fiction? The old gods that you assumed were just someone's imagination? You were wrong. They've been with us the whole time, fighting battles we didn't even know existed, and they've returned. The Olympians are reuniting, preparing to fight the most dangerous battle they've ever faced.
The Father of Monsters is rising.
Genre MG/YA Paranormal Contemporary Greek Mythology Adventure

First book in a middle grade short story series. Lilah is about to celebrate her thirteenth birthday. Her father surprises her with her favorite breakfast of pancakes and bacon. As she departs for school with her older brother, Jay, Lilah looks forward to her first class in which she is studying about Ancient Greece. Mr. Fisher is discussing the Olympians. For some reason, Lilah can't stop thinking about the lesson. When Lilah gets home she is surprised by the gift of an angel-winged necklace from her dad. But when she prepares for bed, strange things begin to happen. The necklace heats up, her rainbow colored extensions suddenly become attached to her head, and she experiences a strange dream. The next day, Lilah is invited to join a special dream club. She is astonished to learn that the other members are Apollo and Hades. They think she is the goddess who will help them find the Father of the Monsters. A sudden crash, and all must run for their lives.....Will Lilah cast her fate with these strangers? Will she wake up from this nightmare?
This short story is a good length for reluctant readers. The characters are believable and interesting enough. What some readers may not like is that the tale ends in a cliffhanger. Readers will be left disappointed unless they immediately get a hold of Book Two.

Rise of the Olympians Volume 1 Belle Ward 9781630350338 Books Reviews
End way to abruptly, The whole series is like that. Each segment is too short. Story line is written almost in a stall method to early cut off. One appeared to be missing pages and read like a sample. Good enough story in slow motion.
And we're off! We have now begun the journey as laid out in Lilah's dream. She has met some other gods and a goddess with attitude. But we still don't know who Lilah really is or what her role might be. Great new characters and a strong slow build to the story. Warning!!! Cliffhanger ahead!!
This had potential and just when it was getting interesting.... bam.... The book is done. Don't even start this if you don't have the second book in series. Was a VERY short book about the Olympian gods but not long enough to learn enough about the gods.
Exciting and fast-paced, Book 2 is even better than the first book in the series! Gripping, masterful storytelling - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree - Belle has inherited her mother's amazing storytelling gene. I am so excited to read the rest of the series. I love that my tween daughter and I can both read this series and love it - how cool is that?!!!
Wow!!!! Ms. Ward - you have outdone yourself. I am so impressed by this book, and cannot wait to share it with my daughters. I always pre-read books before passing them onto my children - and I am glad to say that I have no problem sharing this book with them. It is rare to find a series that is age-appropriate and adventurous, and so well-written. I will be buying more, for sure! You have found a fan for life!
I thought that Rise of the Olympians by Belle Ward was a good book. The main character Lilah is a mystery goddess, no one is sure what goddess she is all they know is that her hair is changing colors. Lilah is a regular kid going to school, but then she finds out the world of the Greek Gods is real and she is one of them. The book ends on a major cliffhanger, and I can't wait to read book 2. This is good book for anyone who is a fan of Rick Riordan and his Percy Jackson books.
Debut for Miss Belle Ward. I'm intrigued. Big fan of other recent series on the Greek and Roman gods. So was excited for a new twist on these myths and stories. Easy read. Perfect for her planned demographics. My boys would have loved this in middle school! Im loving them!
She has created enough mystery and character development to capture my attention. Now I need the next book to see what happens!!! Great star Miss Ward!
